Mitch was discharged from the hospital today! He was sent home to recover from the chemotherapy in a more comfortable environment. We weren't able to leave until late afternoon since he required transfusions of platelets & blood, but now we're home and happy to be here. He will be followed as an outpatient at the SCCA (Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.)
Samuel had to go home yesterday and Chelsea had to leave today. It was a wonderful blessing to have their company for a couple of days. Tonight, we will meet Matt for a brief visit while he has a 2-hour layover at the Seattle airport. We are extremely grateful for any family time we get!
Please continue your prayers. It is important that Mitch not spike any fevers since that would indicate the presence of infection. He will have a bone marrow biopsy on Friday (likely) which will be followed by another one 7 days later. The 21-day biopsy needs to show clear for the transplant to proceed. We are praying that he is in remission and does not require more re-induction chemo before the transplant.

- I was diagnosed on May 25, 2007 with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) while living in Los Angeles, CA. After undergoing 6 rounds of chemotherapy at the LA County General Hospital, I moved back to my home in Spokane, WA fully expecting to remain in remission. Unfortunately, the leukemia came back and was discovered on March 17th, 2008. I was admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital (in Spokane) and given the news that I needed a bone marrow transplant in order to beat this thing. I will begin the transplant process at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance on June 17th, 2008. I am no longer single after marrying my beautiful wife, Chelsea on August 2nd at the University of WA Medical Center. We are looking forward to a great future and long life of ministry once this is behind us. I am totally committed to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior and love to serve him especially ministering to youth (junior high and high school students.) During this entire process of battling the cancer, my Scripture focus has been 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: "Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." God is faithful!

So glad you're out of the hospital. You pop into my head several times daily, and each of those thoughts come with a few words with God - 'please be with Mitch' or 'let Mitch feel your presence strongly' or 'heal Mitch' or 'thanks for loving Mitch.' We have a great God who lives, listens, and loves - I'm so glad you have Him with you as you go through this extremely rough time.

Praise the Lord! So glad to hear you are dismissed from the hospital. I knew June 29 was a special day---My husband and I would have been married 52 years on that date. Praying that the Lord will continue to heal you in His blessed and wise way. Regina Louden

We are praying for 21 days of good health and healing for Mitch. So glad you are out of the hospital and in a comfortable place. I just finished a great book called "A New Kind of Normal" by Carol Kent, you might enjoy it, if you have reading time. Anyway, I check this blog each day and pray that God's presence and loving arms are around you daily.
